New Delhi: As part of enhanced security measures for Republic Day celebrations, an anti-drone system will be closely monitored to mitigate potential threats. Additionally, a commando squad will vigilantly observe suspects from army helicopters using the sky. Equipped with modern weaponry, these commandos will be deployed on helicopters to ensure security from the duty path to the parade route.
Face Recognition System and Modern Surveillance Tools
Surveillance along the duty path and parade route will incorporate advanced technologies such as the Face Recognition System (FRC) and other essential modern equipment. The security fleet near the ceremony venue will consist of a diverse team, ranging from local police to NSG commandos, paramilitary forces, and DRDO scientists. Precautionary measures include deploying anti-missile guns and an entry drone system.
Red Fort Closure and Free Entry for Tourists
The Red Fort will be closed from Thursday to Saturday until 2 pm in response to specific intelligence alerts, particularly mentioning the danger from the air route. After reopening, tourists will enjoy free entry until January 31. Given the air route threat, army helicopters will be accompanied by sharpshooters and snipers deployed on multi-storey buildings, ensuring vigilance over the entire parade route.
Rooftop Squads and Alternative Control Room
Rooftop squads equipped with binoculars and modern weapons will be stationed on nearby tall buildings, while commando squads will be strategically deployed using scaffolding at various locations. The surrounding areas will be equipped with CCTV, establishing an alternative control room to facilitate real-time information exchange between top officials of Delhi Police and other security agencies.
SWAT Team Activation and Increased Border Patrol
The SWAT team has been instructed to remain active, intensifying investigations along with patrolling the border area. Heightened security measures extend to India Gate and crowded areas, with the use of a mobile police control room van in the security arrangements.
Ban on Aerial Devices
To safeguard the capital, a comprehensive ban has been imposed on various aerial devices, including drones, para-gliders, para-motors, hang gliders, UAVs, UAS, microlight aircraft, remote-piloted aircraft, hot air balloons, small-size battery-operated aircraft, quadcopters, and para-jumping flights during the Republic Day period.
