Bengaluru: In Karnataka, the Yeddyurappa government has decided not to take the decision to celebrate Tipu Sultan Jayanti by the Kannada and Culture Department. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting on Monday. Reacting to this, Congress leader and former CM Siddaramaiah said, "I started the Tipu Jayanti celebrations. In my eyes, Tipu Sultan was the first freedom struggle fighter.

Siddaramaiah said Tipu Sultan fought against the British. BJP people are not tolerant. We hoped that if the BJP came to power, it would cancel the decision and we would oppose it. The Cabinet has not yet been formed. CM is alone and has taken such a decision. These questions should also be asked by Roshan Beg, who has joined the BJP.

Karnataka's new CM BS Yeddyurappa won the confidence vote in the Assembly on Monday by a voice vote. Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar declared in the House, "Yeddyurappa has won the confidence motion by voice vote, not the number of yes. The Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah did not demand a division of votes, I declare the motion passed, it proves his majority in the House."
