Hyderabad: Six leaders of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party in Telangana were arrested on Tuesday for abetting the suicide of a real estate businessman and his mother in Kamareddy. Gangam Santosh and his mother Gangam Padma set themselves ablaze on April 16 at a lodge in Kamareddy, accusing TRS leaders and a circle inspector of harassment, police said.

According to media reports, before taking this step, in a video posted by him on social media, Santosh had named 7 people including Ramayampet Nagar chief Palle Jitendra Gaur and five other TRS leaders and circle inspector Nagarjuna Reddy. He had also posted pictures of these people to torture him. Police said that, 'Santosh has also left a suicide note, in which he has told that these people damaged his business and made his life difficult.' According to the police, in the suicide note he wrote that, 'The accused had destroyed me financially. Now it is hoped that at least after his death, justice will be done.

Santosh alleged that the circle inspector had taken his phone to investigate a case. That case was also later dismissed. He told that the inspector later took the confidential information from his phone and returned it. He (inspector) gave this information to TRS leaders, who misused it. Following this, a case of abetment to suicide was registered against the TRS leaders and a senior police officer was ordered to investigate the allegations.
