HYDERABAD: Rich tributes were paid to former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao on his 26th death anniversary on Tuesday, January 18.
N. Balakrishna, Rama Rao's son and a prominent actor, and other family members and TDP leaders, offered floral tributes at NTR Ghat on the banks of Hussain Sagar Lake in Hyderabad. Balakrishna told reporters that NTR will always be remembered in people's hearts. He said that it was NTR who fought for Telugu people's self-respect and global recognition.
Balakrishna, who is also TDP leader and legislator in Andhra Pradesh, said NTR's contributions in both movies and politics will always be revognised. The actor said NTR had dedicated himself to serve people, particualry the poor and downtrodden.
N. Chandrababu Naidu, the TDP's national president and former chief minister, was unable to attend NTR's birth celebration because he was under house quarantine after testing positive for Covid-19. Through his tweets, Naidu, who is also NTR's son-in-law, paid tribute to the late leader. He said, NT Rama Rao, will always be remembered in people's hearts. He said that the TDP founder represented Telugu pride and people's rule. Telugu Desam Party would continue to follow in NTR's footsteps, said Chandrababu Naidu.
