Kolkata: Krishna Roy, wife of leader Mukul Roy, who recently returned from the BJP to the Trinamool Congress (TMC), passed away tragically at a hospital in Chennai on Tuesday. Krishna Roy had been ill for a long time and was also infected with corona infection in Kolkata, after which she was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai for treatment. She has passed away here. Expressing grief over the passing away of Krishna Roy, Bengal CM and Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee said, 'I am deeply saddened by the passing away of Mukul Roy's wife Krishna Roy.'

The TMC supremo further said, 'Krishna Roy breathed his last in Chennai today. Krishna Devi was associated with many public works. She always wanted the good of the people. I extend my heartfelt condolences to Krishna Roy's husband Mukul Roy and son Shubhranshu Roy and family'. Let us tell you that Mukul Roy's wife was recently brought to Chennai for a lung transplant. She had been ill for a long time before and was also hit by a corona. This worsened his condition.

Krishna Roy was taken to Chennai by air ambulance from Kolkata on June 17. Krishna Rai's husband and TMC leader Mukul Roy had withdrawn from the BJP after the assembly elections and gone back to the TMC.
