New Delhi: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) wrote a letter to the Election Commission describing the image being used on PM Modi's Digital covid-19 Vaccination Certificate as a 'publicity stunt' for its model code of conduct Is termed a violation. The eight-phase assembly elections in West Bengal begin on March 27. The election dates in the state were announced last week, after which the Model Code of Conduct has come into force in Bengal.
Terming the act as a "publicity stunt", TMC Rajya Sabha MP and former Indian Medical Association (IMA) chief Santanu Sen also questioned why the prime minister had not worn a mask while taking the vaccine. Sen also said that there was no photograph of the Prime Minister on any of the certificates for the vaccination held so far, but PM Modi's picture came as soon as the election was announced.
On March 1, the second phase of the world's largest inoculation drive against the coronavirus has started in India, in which vaccination has been started for all senior citizens above 60 years of age and those with severe illness for 45 years. PM Modi has started this campaign by receiving his first dose of COVAXIN at AIIMS New Delhi.
