Ahmedabad: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Trinamool Congress (TMC) spokesperson Saket Gokhale. It is alleged that funds worth lakhs raised through crowdfunding were misused by Saket Gokhale. Officials told, Gokhale has misused the crowdfund of Rs 1.07 crore. He was arrested from Gujarat and produced in the court on Wednesday. 

Let us tell you that earlier on December 29, the Gujarat Police had arrested Gokhale from Delhi in connection with the alleged misuse of funds raised through crowdfunding. Gokhale was taken into custody in Ahmedabad under criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). From where he was sent to judicial custody. But now he has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate.

Even before this, Gujarat Police arrested Saket Gokhale for a fake tweet on the Morbi accident. However, he got bail the next day. But a few hours later, the Morbi police arrested him again. This arrest was made in the crowdfunding case. Significantly, Saket Gokhale has had an old association with controversies. The Meghalaya government has filed a defamation case against him. He had alleged embezzlement of Rs 632 crore in the Meghalaya Ecotourism Infrastructure Development Project. Thereafter, a defamation case has been filed against him.
