KOLKATA: In preparation for the ruling party's annual 'Martyrs' Day' rally on July 21, a massive gathering of Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers from various villages and towns across West Bengal is flocking to Kolkata. The enthusiasm among party members is palpable, boosted by their recent triumph in rural polls, and many have already assembled in camps set up in locations like Salt Lake and other areas.

As a key member of the newly formed non-BJP alliance INDIA, TMC aims to present its strategies for enhancing opposition unity and countering the saffron party's influence in West Bengal.

"The July 21 Martyrs' Day Rally holds a special place in our hearts. On this day, we pay tribute to our martyrs and dedicated party workers," quoted West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee in a video message.

Remarkably, despite several party leaders facing incarceration in corruption-related cases, the rally marches forward. These cases are presently under investigation by both the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Nevertheless, the rally serves as a strong testament to TMC's widespread support and influence.

The vibrant streets of Kolkata are now adorned with posters and banners showcasing the charismatic leader, Mamata Banerjee, inviting people to join the rally at the five-point Esplanade crossing.

The 21 July rally holds a significant place in the party's traditions, commemorating the 13 Congress supporters who tragically lost their lives during a police firing incident in 1993. This yearly event symbolizes TMC's unwavering commitment to honoring its martyrs and upholding the values they stood for.
