Madurai (Tamil Nadu) [India], Jan 16 (NT): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam have landed at Alanganallur in Madurai to mark the festivity of a Jallikattu occasion.

Jallikattu (or sallikkattu), also known as eru thazhuvuthal and manju virattu, is a customary spectacle in which a Bos indicus bull, such as the Pulikulam or Kangayam breeds, is released into a mob of people, and many human participants attempt to take hold of the large hump on the bull's back with both arms and hang

However, this event was excluded by the Supreme Court 2014 after receiving the complaints over severe animal brutality.

Captivatingly, O. Panneerselvam picture was not there for this occasion at official poster.

The poster displayed only depict of Palaniswami and former chief minister of Tamil Nadu J. Jayalalithaa.

This came as a  surprise, as Panneerselvam was the one involved I persona in the organization of the event in the state, after the apex court I disallowed Jallikattu event when he was the chief minister of the state.

On the other hand, two cars will be honored to the winners of this occasion.

Last year, subsequent to massive protests, the state acted out a law to find a way around the top court's ruling. (NT)
