CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has announced a compensation of Rs 20 lakh to the family of soldier D Lakshmanan (24), who was killed in a gunfight with the terrorists at Pargal in Jammu & Kashmir's Rajouri district.
The three soldiers reportedly laid down their lives fighting terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir early on August 11.

MK Stalin and Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi expressed condolences to the family of the soldier, who was a rifleman in the Indian Army.  Governor R N  Ravi said the nation would always be indebted and grateful for their devotion to duty and supreme sacrifice they made for the country.

The mortal remains of Lakshmanan were expected to arrive at his hometown in Padupatti, Thummukkundu in Tamil Nadu's Madurai district tomorrow, Saturday.

Expressing grief, Stalin conveyed his condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families of three soldiers.

One of them, D Lakshmanan belongs to Tamil Nadu's Madurai District. The Chief Minister announced that he has ordered a solatium of Rs 20 lakh to the family of Lakshmanan, a rifleman, who was killed in action.

The hometown of Lakshmanan, fell in a shadow of gloom after the news broke out that he was martyred in the encounter.
