TN Govt nominates 5 members to Bharathiar University syndicate

Five secretaries from self-financing colleges have been nominated as syndicate members of Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, by the Tamil Nadu government.

As per the government order issued by the higher education department on May 31, Dr Ajeet Kumar Lal Mohan of AJK College of Arts and Science, Dr. N Yesodha Devi of PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, Rashid Gazzali K of Nilgiri College Of Arts & Science, P, Arunthathi of Kaamadhenu Arts & Science College, and Dr Nalin Vimal Kumar S of Dr SNS Rajalakshmi College of Arts & Science were nominated to the syndicate.

The five members will serve for 3 years from the date of the order's issuance. The Association of Self-Financing Arts, Science, and Management Colleges of Tamil Nadu (ASFASMTN) expressed gratitude to the state government for considering the colleges' long-pending proposal.

Following the Madras High Court's intervention in a writ petition filed by ASFASMTN in 2019, the State legislative assembly passed a bill allowing self-financing colleges to nominate secretaries to the Bharathiar University syndicate.
