The government is taking several effective steps to curb air pollution, this is good news for Delhi-NCR, which is battling air pollution. Sales of BS6 petrol and diesel have started in the country. According to Indian Oil Corporation, India's largest oil distribution company, BS6 fuel supply has started in seven districts of Haryana, Faridabad, Gurugram, Mahendra Nagar, Rewari, Jhajjar, Palwal and Mewad from October 1.

The sale of petrol and diesel of BS6 standard has started on Tuesday at 2200 petrol pumps of Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum. The average sale of petrol and diesel in these seven districts is six lakh 50 thousand tonnes per month. It is to be noted here that from April 1 this year, along with four districts of Rajasthan, Alwar, Bharatpur, Karauli and Dhaulpur and eight districts of Uttar Pradesh Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar, Baghpat, Hapur, Bulandshahar and Shamli BS6 petrol diesel was available in Agra city.

Only seven districts of Haryana did not have their availability but now it has started from Tuesday. According to Indian Oil, BS-6 fuels are produced at Panipat and Mathura refineries. The government has mandated the sale of BS-6 fuels across the country from March 1, 2020. Also, from April 1 next year, only vehicles meeting the BS-6 standard will be registered in the country.
