New Delhi: Corona has created panic everywhere in the country amid ever-increasing cases of corona infection. A senior military officer said on Saturday that the second wave of corona epidemic is growing at a rapid pace. Critically ill patients are also facing a shortage of oxygen gas. The Air Force has already sent large oxygen containers through transport aircraft for filling at stations located in different parts of the country. These include Panagarh in West Bengal and Jamnagar in Gujarat.
An empty tanker of medical oxygen was first sent to Pune in Maharashtra and then to Jamnagar in Gujarat on Friday through 'C-17', a major air force cargo and transport aircraft. The aircraft was also used to carry two empty containers from Jodhpur in Rajasthan to Jamnagar. The Centre had on Thursday directed the states to ensure uninterrupted production and inter-state transportation of medical oxygen.
At the same time, the Ministry had said that the Collector and Superintendent of Police of the district concerned will be accountable if the order is ignored. The Union Home Ministry had on April 22 directed all states and Union Territories to use oxygen vehicles like ambulances to ensure uninterrupted transportation of medical oxygen across the country. The army officer said the issue is not of hospitals but of the need and shortage of oxygen beds. In fact, in most corona cases, there is no need to be admitted to the hospital.
