The third day of the first TEST match between India and New Zealand at Kanpur begins today. On the second day, the Indian cricket team scored 345 runs in the first innings with the help of Shreyas Iyer's century. In reply, New Zealand started strongly and took 129 runs without losing a wicket.

Day 3 begins: India start bowling with their veteran pacer Ishant Sharma. For New Zealand, Tom Latham (50*) and Will Young (75*) remain at the crease.

Spin attack: India has put on the spin in the second over of day three. Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been handed the ball for the team.

KS Bharat doing wicketkeeping: According to an update released by BCCI, Wriddhiman Saha has some sore throat today and hence KS Bharat is in charge of wicketkeeping in his place.

The illusion of the pitch: Today is the third day of the match and the pitch is going to break slowly, so the spinners will play an important role here. Coach Rahul Dravid and veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin are also well aware of this and are therefore trying to understand the pitch.
