cryptocurrency prices: After surging more than 16 percent in the previous two days, Bitcoin was barely changed on March 3. The world's most popular and largest cryptocurrency was trading at USD44,759, up a small bit over 2 percent. In the last five days, the digital token has increased by around 17 percent. However, it is still more than 30 percent behind its all-time high of about USD69,000 set in November 2021.

Ether, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market value and tied to the Ethereum network, increased little to USD2,931. Dogecoin, on the other hand, was down more than a percent to USD0.13, while Shiba Inu was down more than a percent to USD 0.000026.

Other digital assets' performance was mixed, with Terra, Solana, and Polygon prices rising while Avalanche, Stellar, XRP, Litecoin, Cardano, and Polkadot prices falling during the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, according to CoinGecko, the worldwide cryptocurrency market capitalization today remained above USD2 trillion, although falling slightly in the last 24 hours.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission is reportedly  investigating NFT developers and the crypto exchanges where they trade to see if some of the assets violate the agency's laws.

The current volatility in cryptocurrencies has coincided with a broader market selloff, as geopolitical tensions between Russia and Ukraine have risen.
