LOS ANGELES: 'Joker: Folie A Deux' director Todd Phillips shared a teaser piciture announcing "day one" of work on the movie.
According to "Variety," Phillips simply captioned the photo, "Day 1. Our boy. #joker."
The movie's creator posted a picture of Arthur Fleck, played by Joaquin Phoenix. The murderous Arkham Asylum inmate is lying motionless as an apparent orderly at the facility gives him a shave.
Phoenix appears to have regained the angular appearance he adopted for the role of Fleck in the original 2019 movie. The "Joker" sequel will take up with Phoenix's murderous clown after he's been confined to Arkham Asylum, however story details are being kept under wraps.
Lady Gaga, who has been cast in a character that is reportedly an interpretation of the DC Comics villain Harley Quinn, will appear alongside Phoenix, who won the Academy Award for best actor for his performance in the R-rated original. In the production, Brendan Gleeson has also been hired.
After directing the first movie, director Todd Phillips is back to helm "Joker: Folie A Deux," leading the dark comic book adaptation to a record-breaking 11 Academy Award nominations, a Golden Lion win at the Venice Film Festival, and a smashing box office success with more than $1 billion in worldwide ticket sales. The follow-up has been compared to a musical.
On October 9, 2024, precisely five years after the premiere of the first movie, "Joker: Folie A Deux" will be released in theatres.
