New Delhi: India's golfer Aditi Ashok missed out on a medal by a narrow margin in the golf competition of the Tokyo Olympics and finished fourth in the fourth round after scoring a three-under 68 in the bad weather-hit fourth round. Aditi is the 200th golfer in the world. But with his brilliant game, she has given a tough fight to the current world number one, Nepali Korda of the United States, and former world number one Lydia. Aditi, 23, missed out on a medal by just one shot.

The Bengaluru golfer was in a state of silver after reaching the final round but his chances of winning in the 9th and 11th holes were dashed by bogeys. Aditi did not win a medal for India in golf, but she has done a commendable job of giving the sport a new identity in the country.

In a tweet, Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur wrote, "India's first female golfer Aditi Ashok, who finished fourth in the Olympic Games, deserves a standing ovation for her exemplary performance at Tokyo 2020. You played well continuously, we held our breath till the end. You created history, congratulations for the next one.''
