Tokyo: Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra won everyone's heart by making history at the Tokyo Olympic Games yesterday. After making history, he said, 'He was trying to make a record in the Olympics after throwing their first two throws well, but it could not happen. Neeraj Chopra also revealed in a statement that he was not thinking anything before his last throw as he realized that he had achieved an unprecedented top spot in sports here.'

In fact, Neeraj was the best of all the 12 competitors in the first three attempts, and that is why he came to the last to throw in the next three attempts. As soon as silver medallist Jakub Wadletch of the Czech Republic completed his last throw, Neeraj Chopra realized that he had won the gold medal. At the virtual press conference after the win, Neeraj said, 'I was the last thrower and everyone had thrown, I knew I had won gold, so something changed in my mind, I can't say it. I don't know what to do and it was like what I've done.'

Neeraj Chopra further added, 'I was on a run-up with the spare but I couldn't think. I exercised restraint and tried to focus on my last throw which was not brilliant but still fine (of 84.24 m).' At the same time, Neeraj said, "He was aiming for an Olympic record of 90.57 meters (created at Norwegian Andriyas Thorkildson's 2008 Beijing Olympics) but could not do so. After the first two throws were good (which were above 87 meters) I thought I could try to break the Olympic record. But that could not happen. That's what I'm regretting for.''
