Mumbai: Neeraj Chopra has become the most talked-about name these days. He has brought India a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics and his feat is being discussed everywhere. Neeraj has won India a historic gold medal and so far a pool of praise has been tied for it. Last Sunday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray spoke of great importance in praising Neeraj and also interacted with his family. He also expressed his desire to honor Neeraj in Maharashtra. In fact, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, while talking to Neeraj's family, said, "Maratha does not make things, he creates history.’'

At the same time, the Chief Minister praised Neeraj's work and expressed his desire to receive him grandly in Maharashtra. He sought time from Neeraj's family members for the same and told them that Neeraj would be felicitated in the Assembly. Neeraj, a resident of Khandra village in Haryana, will return to his village on August 13. At present, everyone in his village is laying eyelids to welcome him. Neeraj from his village is said to be going to Delhi for the August 15 event and after that, the Maharashtra government wants to invite him to his place and organize a grand reception in his honor.

Neeraj Chopra's ancestors were from Maharashtra and he came to Panipat to fight the third battle of Panipat on behalf of Peshwa Balaji Bajirao in the third war of Panipat. The war is said to have been fought between Afghan ruler Ahmed Shah Abdali and the Brave Marathas and after that Neeraj Chopra's ancestors settled in Panipat.
