New Delhi: Indian badminton team's foreign coach Park Tai Seng said PV Sindhu's dismal performance this year has been due to her weak defense and helped her overcome her weakness ahead of the Tokyo Olympics during the corona-led rest days. The 42-year-old coach was appointed to the men's team in 2019 but is also working with Sindhu after Korean coach Kim G Hyun left after the Basel World Championships two years ago.

Talking to the media, Park Tai Seng said, Sindhu's defense is weaker than her attack. So, I am focusing on his defense before the Olympics. He further said, "When the Olympics were postponed last year, I felt that it was an opportunity to work on its speed skills and net practice. Top players like Akini Yamaguchi, Tai Ju Ying know that Sindhu's attack is strong and hence they wait for her powerful smash.''

Park further said, "I know that when Sindhu lost at the Thailand Open, a lot of people thought her physical capacity was not right, but it was not so. Sindhu then reached the final of the Swiss Open, reached the semi-finals of All England. Fitness was not a problem.'' He said, "The only problem was with his defense, but now she has improved this department a lot.''
