Hockey includes men's and women's hockey teams. It is India's largest team in any one sport. Earlier on Saturday night, Sports Minister Anurag Thakur bid a formal farewell to the Indian contingent at Indira Gandhi Airport in Delhi with a cheer, applause, and congratulatory messages. There was an unexpected sight at the airport. The red carpet was laid for the Olympic team. There was so much enthusiasm for the players' departure that the Government of India had made special arrangements to complete the paper formalities of these members.
