Actress Jyotika, who was last seen in Ponmagal Vandhal, donated a sum of Rs 25 lakh to Tanjore government hospital through Agaram Foundation, owned by husband Suriya and family. The money was put to good use for buying necessary medical equipment and beds. Apart from this, the pediatric block of the government hospital was beautified with color painting on the walls. In addition, the children's park in the hospital premises was also renovated. Director Saravanan handed over Jyotika's donation to Health Minister Vijaya Bhaskar.

Last year, Jyotika, director Saravanan and team were shooting at the hospital and realized that the hospital was in need and decided to give the hospital a new lease of life. Health Minister Vijaya Bhaskar and Tanjore Collector Govinda Rao appreciated the actress's noble gesture. A few months ago, Jyotika, at an awards ceremony in Chennai, said that hospitals should also be given equal importance as temples. Her explosive speech caused a huge stir on social media. Speaking at the event, Jyotika had said that she visited Tanjore hospital for a shoot and was taken aback by the poor condition of the hospital.

She then said that people who donate for temples should also consider contributing to hospitals in equal measure. Many said that Jyotika's speech as an insult to Hinduism. But, Suriya and the rest of her family stood by her speech and reiterated her points. Few days after her speech, venomous snakes were found inside the hospital. Also, the district collector had asked government officials to inspect the hospital's condition.
