New Delhi: Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said on Tuesday that the amount allocated for agriculture in this year's Union Budget has been raised from previous year, and that every component of the budget has been addressed.
"Agriculture received Rs 1,23,000 crore in the previous budget. This year's agriculture budget is Rs 1,32,000 crore. In the budget, everything has been taken care of. Provision has been established in the budget for any services the general public requires "Tomar stated.
"I can only laugh at people who label this budget meaningless," Tomar remarked, slamming opposition parties for criticising the budget.
"They are concerned that this budget will result in the birth of a new India. In 2014 and 2019, they were defeated both times. They are concerned that if this budget is enacted, they would be unable to compete in 2024 "he added.
On Tuesday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget for the years 2022-23 in Parliament.
