New Delhi: After the coronavirus and monkeypox virus, now tomato flu has increased tension. There have been 80 possible cases of tomato flu across the country, where painful blisters have come out on the body of children. According to media reports, the disease has been named tomato flu based on red and painful blisters occurring throughout the body, these blisters gradually grow and become tomato-shaped. Skin rashes are also seen when tomato flu occurs, due to which patients complain of skin irritation.

According to the report, tomato flu shows symptoms like fatigue, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, fever, lack of water, joint swelling, body aches and common influenza. Experts have compared the blisters of rashes in this disease to monkeypox and the symptoms of fever to dengue, chikungunya and hand, foot and mouth disease. Researchers are still trying to find out what causes these symptoms to appear on the body.

So far, health authorities have recorded a total of 82 cases from May to July of 2022, all of whom are below five years of age. The first case of tomato flu was found in the Kollam district of Kerala, after which it spread to the entire area. There is no strong evidence yet about tomato flu that the disease is serious or life-threatening, and children are being treated in a normal way i.e., paracetamol, rest and a lot of fluids.
