Due to Navaratri, onion demand has come down, while tomato consumption has increased. There is no hope of any relief in its prices till Diwali.

Tomato is grown mainly in Maharashtra and Karnataka in addition to northern states. Floods and rains have destroyed crops in these regions. Due to this, its prices are also increasing in many cities of the country including Delhi. Wholesale markets are seeing a surge in prices due to low arrivals. The wholesale price of tomatoes has reached Rs 46 per kg in the country's biggest mandi, Azadpur vegetable market. Tomatoes are rotting due to rain, so prices are going up.
