Patna: A video of the Managing Director of Bihar Women Development Corporation is becoming fiercely viral on social media. Due to a program, school girls pleaded to provide sanitary pads free of cost. Reacting to this, MD Harjot Kaur said, "You are asking for sanitary pads today, tomorrow you will ask for condoms.'' In the video, school girls can be seen demanding free sanitary pads so that they do not have to depend on others for necessities.
A schoolgirl questioned, "The government is giving a lot of free stuff. Can't they give us sanitary pads worth Rs 20-30?" IAS officer Harjot Kaur, responding to the girl's question, "Is there an end to the demands? Tomorrow you will say that the government can give jeans and beautiful shoes. When it comes to family planning, you also need free condoms." IAS officer further said, ''Why do you need to take things from the government? This thinking is wrong."
The students refuted her claims, saying the government promises to do a lot due to elections for votes. To this, Harjot Kaur said, "Don't vote. Become Pakistan.'' Harjot Kaur later issued a statement saying, "I am known as one of the most vocal champions of women's rights and empowerment. The miscreants against whom action has been taken by the WCDC are now trying to tarnish my reputation."
