The CBI tussle is the new topic which shaken the premier investigative agency badly. Here are top 6 developments in the case so far -

-Hearing the case, the Top court has ruled that interim boss M Nageshwar Rao should not take any most important policy decisions till the time he is at the controls of the agency. Further, decisions taken by him since his appointment as an interim director on October 23 should not be put into practice.

-The Apex court has also asked that it be given in a sealed cover all orders taken by Rao till date as the CBI interim director, including transfer orders issued by him.

-The Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and also comprising Justices SK Kaul and KM Joseph has ruled that the CBI, the CVC and the Centre to submit their responses on Verma’s plea challenging the order against him, by November 12 when the case will be heard next.

-The Top court also issued notices on a petition filed by lawyer Prashant Bhushan’s NGO Common Cause. That petition has sought a Special Investigation Team (SIT)  inquiry against CBI officers. Asthana is one of the respondents in the NGO's petition.

-The top court stated that former SC judge AK Patnaik will take charge of the CVC investigation into the allegations and counter-allegations levelled by Verma and Asthana. This report has to be submitted before the Apex court in 14 days’ time.

-Responding to the court order, a CBI spokesperson said that they will follow Supreme Court order in letter and spirit and wherever necessary they will seek legal opinion.
