Two-week complete lockdown in Guwahati-Kamrup due to coronavirus

Guwahati: Once the corona virus epidemic is out of control, governments have been forced to resort to lockdown once again. The Assam government has once again announced a complete lockdown of two weeks in Kamrup (metro) district including Guwahati. The lockdown will begin at midnight on 28 June and will continue for 14 days. Assam Health Minister Hemant Biswa Sarma announced this on Friday that curfew would continue in the weekend in the urban areas of the state.

Hemant Biswa Sarma said that with this there will be a 12-hour curfew in Assam from Friday. There will be complete lockdown in cities on weekends on Saturdays and Sundays. He informed that permission has been given to open drug shops during lockdown. It is noteworthy that in the last few days, the number of corona cases in Assam has increased rapidly. So far 632 people have been infected with Corona and 9 people have died. So far, 4033 people have become healthy in the state and 2279 are active cases.

Earlier, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government of West Bengal has issued an order to extend the lockdown till 31 July. The currently implemented lockdown in West Bengal was to end on 30 June. On Wednesday, the state's CM Mamata Banerjee said that it has been decided to extend the lockdown to the end of July with some relaxation.
