Chhattisgarh: Naxalites have no fear of corona virus, 17 soldiers martyred

17 soldiers have been killed in an encounter with Naxals in the forest of Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, India. Yesterday i.e. on Saturday, after the encounter with the Naxals, these soldiers had gone missing, who were being searched with vigor. Police said that on Sunday, the bodies of 17 missing security forces personnel were recovered. Confirming the martyrdom of 17 soldiers, Bastar IG P. Sundararaj said that 14 soldiers injured in the encounter have been brought to Raipur for treatment.

This encounter took place in Chintagufa police station area of Sukma district in Naxal affected Bastar area of the state. There is also information about the death of five Naxalites. The injured soldiers have been brought to Raipur by helicopter and admitted to Ramakrishna Care Hospital. The condition of three of the 14 injured men is stated to be critical. After this incident, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has called an emergency meeting of officials.

The presence of the number one battalion of Naxalites was reported in Minap area after which teams of STF and District Reserve Guard i.e. DRG were sent to the forest from Chintagufa and nearby camps. The commander of the Naxalite battalion is said to be the infamous Naxal leader Hidma. It is said that in the return after search operation, Naxals ambushed and fired indiscriminately on the soldiers. According to the police, there was a fierce firing on Saturday afternoon from two and a half to five in the evening.
