Tourist spots soon to be tobacco-free in Telangana

Hyderabad:  Telangana’s tourism department passed a new rule according to which citizens visiting tourism sites will not be allowed to chew tobacco, smoke or spit there. In the case of the violation of the rule,  a fine of Rs 200 will be levied by the department on the along with a challan of Rs 200. This new rule can be seen as a move to make the Tekenaga, a Tobacco-free state. 

The department passed this rule in order to maintain the cleanliness of tourist spots and to create awareness among the citizens. As per the reports, posters will also be put at these places stating that these sites are no tobacco and no smoking areas. From parks to monuments, all the tourist places will have these posters to make sure that there is no violation by the citizens. 

 As per report, The order had been given on January 22 to all tourism departments. The departments have been asked to convey the message to health officials so that utmost cleanliness and awareness is ensured.

 Dr A. Srikanth, The secretary of the Indian Dental Association said that they would aid the tourism department in creating awareness among the citizens. He also added that events organised in those areas will also carry the message of cleanliness to ensure awareness.
