The Hyderabad Traffic Police have asked the owners of the vehicles to update their mobile numbers on the Regional Transport Authority’s (RAT) website. So that whenever a traffic e-challan is generated against their vehicle, they can get SMS alert on their cell phone.

The Additional Commissioner of Traffic, Anil Kumar said that 'Telangana police adopted integrated e-challan applications to streamline enforcement of traffic rules in the State.' He further said that as part of this system, whenever any e-challan is booked against a vehicle, an SMS alert will automatically be sent to the phone number linked to the owner of the vehicle as per RTA database.

As per Additional Commissioner of Traffic due to various reasons, a large number of vehicle owners in the State had not updated their valid phone numbers yet and that's why the SMS is not reaching the right person, creating problems for the people and the police too. Hence to avoid such confusion the officials of Traffic police have asked the vehicle owners to update their number on the portal of RAT. The RAT website is designed for the convenience of the vehicle owners. This step will also promote e-challan, following the initiative of Digital India.
