Tragedy Strikes Rajkot: Massive Fire Claims Dozens of Lives at Gaming Zone

Rajkot: In the aftermath of a devastating fire that erupted at a gaming zone in Rajkot, Gujarat, claiming the lives of at least 35 individuals, police detained Nitin Jain, the manager of TRP game zone, and one of the partners, Yuvraj Singh Solanki, late on Saturday. Sources revealed that the gaming zone has three partners: Prakash Jain, Yuvraj Singh Solanki, and Rahul Rathod.

Rescue operations are ongoing at the affected TRP game zone, with concerns that the casualty count may rise as several individuals, including children, are still believed to be trapped. Rajkot Collector Prabhav Joshi stated, "We received the call around 4:30 pm. The temporary structure in the gaming zone had collapsed. The fire was brought under control around 2 hours ago. Debris removal is underway. We are in constant communication with the Chief Minister."

In response to the incident, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the incident. "It is crucial to ensure such incidents do not recur. Negligence will not be tolerated," Patel emphasized.The Gujarat Government established a five-member SIT led by additional DG (CID, Crime) Subhash Trivedi to investigate the tragic fire incident.

State Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi remarked, "Many families have lost their children in this incident. I am heading to Rajkot. The SIT will commence its investigation tonight. The manager and administrator have been arrested." He added, "A meeting will be held after inspecting the fire site, and action will commence tonight. PM Modi has been briefed by the CM. SIT members are instructed to reach Rajkot by 3 am. The CM will receive the details tonight."

In light of the Rajkot tragedy, the Gujarat DGP ordered the inspection of all children's game zones across the state. Zones lacking valid fire NOCs and safety equipment are mandated for immediate closure amidst allegations that the TRP gaming zone lacked a fire NOC. The Rajkot Bar Association declared that no lawyer from the association would represent the culprits of the game zone fire tragedy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sorrow over the loss of lives in the Rajkot fire tragedy, assuring that the local administration is providing all possible assistance to the affected. "Extremely saddened by the fire mishap in Rajkot. My thoughts are with all those who lost their loved ones. Prayers for the injured. The local administration is extending all possible support to the affected," PM Modi conveyed.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel mourned the tragedy, expressing condolences to the victims' families. He announced compensation of Rs 4 lakh for the deceased families and Rs 50,000 for the injured.
