At least seven students of Assam Engineering College (AEC), Jalukbari, Guwahati, lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Assam's Guwahati late on Sunday (May 28). The tragic road accident took place when 10 AEC students were going towards Khanapara in a rented SUV car from their institute.
According to the report, a student named Kaushik Barua was driving the car at high speed and suddenly he lost control and hit the roadside divider. The car then rammed into another pick-up van coming from the other side. The collision between the two vehicles was so strong that seven of the 10 people in the SUV car died on the spot, while three other students and three people in the pickup van were seriously injured.
The injured were rushed to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Guwahati. The deceased have been identified as Amon Baruah (Dibrugarh), Kaushik Mohan (Sivasagar), Arindam Bhallal (Guwahati), Niyar Deka (Guwahati), Upangshu Sarma (Nagaon), Rajkiran Bhuiyan (Majuli) and Kaushik Baruah (Mangaldoi).
