Islamabad: A major road accident is being reported in Pakistan. At least 20 people died and 13 others were injured when a passenger van fell into a gorge near Sehwan toll plaza on Indus Highway. Confirming the casualties, Dr. Moin Siddiqui at the Abdullah Shah Institute of Medical Sciences said the dead included eight women and 12 children, including six boys and six girls, aged between 10 and 15.
He has said that about 13 people have been injured in the accident, out of which the condition of 5 is said to be critical. Those who died in the accident were residents of Dawood Phoolpoto village in Khairpur. On the other hand, the police said in a statement that cuts were made to drain out flood water on the Indus highway, but the gap could not be filled even after two months, due to which this unfortunate incident took place. SSP Sahwam Imran Qureshi has said that the passenger van was going from Khairpur to the shrine of Sufi saint Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan, encountered an accident and the vehicle fell into a gorge.
According to the report, the bodies and injured have been shifted to Abdullah Shah Institute of Medical Sciences Sehwan. According to SSP Qureshi, at least 20 people lost their lives, and 13 others were injured in the accident.
