Raipur: In a tragic incident on Sunday, a sub-inspector of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) lost his life, and a constable sustained injuries during an encounter between security personnel and Maoists in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district. The confrontation unfolded in the morning under the jurisdiction of the Jagargunda police station as the CRPF's 165th battalion embarked on an anti-Maoist operation. The operation commenced at approximately 7 am from Bedre camp towards Ursangal village, according to a police official.

As the security forces engaged in the anti-Maoist operation, an intense exchange of fire erupted, resulting in the unfortunate demise of sub-inspector Sudhakar Reddy. Additionally, constable Ramu suffered bullet injuries during the encounter. Following the cessation of gunfire, four suspects were apprehended from the site of the incident. A joint team of security personnel is currently conducting a thorough search operation in the area.

The injured constable, Ramu, is being urgently transferred to the hospital for medical treatment, as reported by the police official. The incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in the region as they strive to counter Maoist activities and maintain law and order.
