Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the government arm of India, has proposed to take another important step related to telecom. TRAI has proposed that after the FUP limit of 100 SMS per day on a SIM, the charge of 50 paise per SMS should be removed. In the tariff order that was issued in November 2012, TRAI said that up to 100 SMS free and then 50 paise charges. For this, TRAI has asked for written comments from the stakeholders till 3 March. Also demanded a counter comment by 17 March. Let's know in full detail

Regarding this matter, TRAI says that with the beginning of TCCCPR 2018 it has been found that tariffs are not required for SMS. TRAI has stated in the draft Telecommunication Tariff (65th Amendment) Order that the Telecommunication Tariff (65th Amendment) Order which is proposed for 2020 calls for withdrawal of SMS Tariff of 54th Amendment Order.

For your information, let us tell you that the order for imposing a fee of 50 paise was placed so that spam SMS can be stopped. But now TRAI has told that TCCCPR 2018 is technology based. In such a situation, this spam is able to stop the SMS. As we told you, this order was placed in the year 2012. This limit (100 SMS per day) was given to protect the users from UCC (unsolicited commercial communications). TRAI is pushing telecom companies to stop spam messages. Due to this, in the year 2017, TRAI introduced TCCCPR to curb the UCC. It is based on the new regulatory framework technology. It contains technical solutions that can be used to detect UCC.
