The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) will clear its stand on net relativity by the end of October. TRAI Chairman R. S. Sharma also said that along with this he will also start a discussion on the remaining issues related to over-the-top applications (OTT app) like Whatsapp and Hike.

TRAI has completed talks with all parties on the issue of net relativity and he is now drafting his recommendations. Sharma said in an interview that on the basis of Net Absence, TRAI will finalize his vision by the end of October.

Net Neutrality means that telecommunications companies and Internet service providers should be brought to all without discrimination with the speed and cost of data. This issue was disputed when some internet service providers started special partnerships with various companies serving the Internet or providing content to them, better internet speed than other websites etc. and to ensure free access to the Internet to those sites.

Sharma said that TRAI is also preparing to start the discussion on issues related to the OTT app. He said, "We had put a consultation letter on the OTT in 2015. Since then many issues have been resolved so far. Now we will issue a discussion letter on the remaining issues."

It is worth noting that OTT apps are Internet services that are not directly provided by a user's Internet Service Provider. These include sites like different types of calling, messaging app and video content.
