TRAI had announced the introduction of new mobile number portability rules some time back. TRAI said that from November 11, new rules will start in force. At present, these rules will not be implemented for some time. TRAI has issued a notice stating that it may take some more time to implement the new rules. Earlier, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India had said that at the time of implementation of the new rules, no customer will be able to get their number ported till 6 pm on November 10 and 11.59 pm on November 10.
At present, consumers can get their number ported to another operator as the rule is delayed. TRAI has not yet decided on any date to implement the new rules. In fact, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India wants them tested thoroughly before the new rules come into force. So that people do not face any problem. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has stated that due to technical problems from the telecom operators, the new rules cannot be implemented yet.
This benefit will be provided by the new rule - If the new rules come into force then after this, the consumer will have to pay very less weight to switch from one telecom operator to another. Just like at this time it takes seven days to port the number, but after the new rules are implemented, it is being estimated that it can take only two days.
