New Delhi: Passengers traveling in premium trains like Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto are going to be shocked. Passengers traveling in these trains will have to pay more than 3% to 9% if they also include food while booking tickets. The revised catering charge will come into effect from 29th March next year.

According to the new order, passengers in these trains will have to pay Rs 35 (rs. 15) for tea in first class AC and executive class, Rs. 140 for breakfast (Rs. 90) for breakfast and Rs. 245 (rs. 140) for lunch and dinner. On the other hand, second class AC, third class AC and Chadaiyarakara will get morning Tea 20 rupees (now Rs. 10), breakfast 105 (now Rs. 70), lunch and dinner at Rs. 185 (rs. 120) and evening Tea 90 rupees (now Rs. 45).

In the sleeper class of Duronto train, morning Tea will be of Rs. 15 (now Rs. 10), breakfast Rs. 65 (now Rs. 40), lunch and dinner at Rs. 120 (rs. 75) and evening Tea 50 rupees (rs. 20 now). The prices of catering in Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto trains were revised in the year 2013. The price has been increased for 'quality'. When asked about the hike in fees, Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angari said, "There is a need to increase the catering charge to provide quality catering facilities. '

According to the order, "according to a statement by the Ministry of Railways, fares in pre-paid trains are going to increase from a total of 3% to 9%, which will select miles.
