Visakhapatnam: In a tragic accident in Andhra Pradesh, a newly married woman died on Friday after a car drowned in rainwater stored in Tirupati. According to police, seven family members of Raichur in Karnataka, including the new bride, were on their way to the Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirupati when the accident took place under a bridge near the West Church.

Many roads in Tirupati were submerged due to heavy rains and the driver of the car did not know how deep the stagnant water was. SV University police rescued six members, including a child, but a newly married woman Sandhya died on the spot. The rescued child has been admitted to a government hospital for treatment.

Tirupati police have registered a case and started an investigation. In Andhra Pradesh, a man lost his life when a car was washed away at Narsipatnam in Visakhapatnam recently. In fact, many districts of Andhra Pradesh have received heavy rainfall. It is said that the deep pressure area in Thadi in Bengal passed through the coastal areas of Kakinada in the East Godavari district of the state. This led to rain at more than 100 places in the state.
