Kolkata: Trinamool Congress MLA Madan Mitra and former party leader Shobhan Chatterjee have been admitted to a hospital in the early hours of Tuesday after their health deteriorated in jail. An official said the two leaders were taken to government SSKM hospital as they were having breathing problems.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had also arrested West Bengal ministers Farhad Hakim and Subrata Mukherjee in the case and the four were taken to presidency jail in Kolkata on Monday night. A hospital official said, "Chatterjee and Mitra complained of breathing problems at 3 am after which they were brought to the hospital. Both have been kept in the woodburn ward of the SSKM hospital. His condition is stable now. ''
The official said Mukherjee who felt unwell in the jail was also brought to the hospital for health check-up on Tuesday morning. The minister was taken to jail after investigation as he did not want to be admitted to the hospital. Mukherjee was brought back to the hospital SSKM Tuesday morning for some investigation. Hakim's condition is now said to be stable. Kolkata Police personnel were also deployed in view of the hospitalization of the two arrested leaders.
