Agartala: Tripura is slated to have its second airport at Kailashahar, the headquarters of the Unakoti district in Tripura. "Tripura's second airport at Kailashahar is coming up soon," said Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Thursday. "The central government is likely to approve funding quickly."

According to Deb, the Centre will release funds in the range of Rs 500 to Rs 600 crore for the building and development of related infrastructure at the new airport location in Kailashahar, around 139 kilometres from Agartala.

"The people of Unakoti area have been demanding for an airport for a long time, and the central government is about to grant their wish. After Kailashahar is added to the flight map, Tripura will have a total of two airports ", the Chief Minister stated.

The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma for presenting a "people-centric budget."

Deb told reporters in his Assembly Chamber that "Dev Varma has submitted a people-centric budget to the state assembly today. The state's important growth sectors, such as forestry, animal resources, infrastructure, education, and health, have all been addressed."

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of "Atma Nirbhar Tripura" was reflected in the budget.
