Triumph India is planning to launch the Tiger Sport 660 in India by the end of March, according to our sources. The motorbike is estimated to cost between Rs 9 lakh and Rs 9.5 lakh, almost Rs 2 lakh more than the Trident 660 on which it is based. With its dynamic half-fairing that encases dual LED headlamps, the Triumph Tiger Sport 660 stands out. The Trident's gasoline tank carries 14 litres, whereas the Trident's holds 17 litres. A new TFT instrument cluster is also installed on the bike.

Lucerne Blue and Sapphire Black, Korosi Red and Graphite, and a basic Graphite and Black option are the three colour combinations offered.  The Tiger Sport 660 has the same primary frame as the Triumph Trident 660 below the bodywork, but the subframe is altered to suit the increased load that this touring-oriented bike is meant to carry. The swingarm is also longer, and the wheelbase is 11mm longer.

In terms of ergonomics, the seat has been redesigned to provide more comfort. The seat height has increased by 30mm to 835mm, which is rather lofty, and the suspension travel has increased by 150mm on both ends as a result of the suspension travel. Showa is responsible for the suspension, which includes a non-adjustable 41mm USD fork and a pre-load adjustable shock with a remote preload adjustment.

The bike is driven by a 660cc three-cylinder engine that generates 81hp at 10,250rpm and 64Nm at 6,250rpm, practically equal to the Trident. It comes with a six-speed transmission, and an up/down quickshifter is available for an additional fee. The Triumph Tiger Sport 660 is estimated to cost between Rs 9 lakh and Rs 9.5 lakh, which is much more than its main competitor, the Kawasaki Versys 650 (Rs 7.15 lakh).
