New Delhi: Increased diesel prices in February have impacted on truck haul engaged in transportation work. According to the Indian Foundation of Transport Research and Training (IFTRT), there has been an increase of about 10 per cent in truck fares in the month of February. This has affected the prices of all commodities. The price of fruits and vegetables has seen an increase of 10 to 15 percent. During the month of February, the price of diesel has increased by about Rs. 4.10 per liter. Due to this the transporter has increased the fare.

The IFTRT has based on a February and March study of truck fares, that the fare has increased by about 10 percent. This has had an impact on long distance vehicles as well as bookings made in retail. It has seen an increase of up to 20 percent. The fare of Delhi-Mumbai has increased by 8 percent. Vegetable prices have increased in the mandis due to the increase in freight rates. Traders say that freight will have an impact on all goods.

Due to this, the burden of inflation may increase further in the coming months on the general public. In fact, after the rise in the prices of vegetables and food items, there is every possibility of an increase in the prices of milk, egg and chicken in the next few months. Poultry Federation of India national president Ramesh Khatri said that the business of the poultry firm has been badly affected by the Corona epidemic, lockdown and bird flu. This has severely affected the supply of chicken to eggs. Now hotels, restaurants and banquet halls are about to open.
