Trump attempts to fix govt. blackout over telephonic conference

Washington DC [United States], Jan 22 (NT): United States President Donald Trump has attempted a telephonic conference with leaders in Congress and a number of members of his Cabinet, in hopes of finding a pact to stop the government blackout prior to it enters the third day.

"We are continuing to work hard towards reopening the government and making sure our great military and their families, vulnerable children and the American people are being taken care of," the Hill reported, citing, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, as saying in a statement.

Chief of staff John Kelly strutted to Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and updated President Trump on the meeting.

At midnight on Friday The US Government blackout after Democrats and Republicans locked in a harsh heated discussion over immigration and border security and had been unsuccessful to agree on a last-minute deal to the endowment of its operations.

The bill required 60 votes in the 100-member Senate, but only 50 held up it.

President Trump without more ado moved to hold responsible to Democrats.

"Tonight, they put politics above our national security, military families, vulnerable children, and our country's ability to serve all Americans," the White House made a statement.

Trump has not faced a public appearance since the blackout is set in motion.(NT)
