NEW YORK: When a judge decided that he should testify under oath next week in a defamation lawsuit brought by a writer who claims he sexually assaulted her in the mid-1990s.

The former president reacted angrily on Wednesday, calling the country's legal system a "broken disgrace." Additionally, he referred to the 2019 lawsuit, filed by longtime Elle magazine advice columnist E. Jean Carroll, as "a hoax and a lie."

In Manhattan, US District Judge Lewis A. The blast came late hours after Kaplan denied his lawyers' request to adjourn the October 19 statement.

Carroll claims that in the mid-1990s, Trump sexually assaulted her in the dressing room of the Bergdorf Goodman store in Manhattan. Kaplan is the judge in this case. He referred to the trial as a "total con job."

I don't know this woman and I don't know who she is, but it looks like she took a picture of me and her husband several years ago shaking hands in the lobby of a celebrity charity event."

He totally made up a story about how I met him at the door of a crowded department store in New York City and immediately "blinked" him. He claimed that like all other deceptions committed to me in the last seven years, this is a hoax and a lie.

Then she complained, "All I have to do now is face years of legal crap for him and his lawyer to dismiss the baseless allegations against me. Only "Trump" can experience that!
Carroll is expected to be removed from office on Friday.

Carroll's attorney, Roberta Kaplan, expressed satisfaction with the judge's decision and was enthusiastic about bringing the new claims to "proceed to trial with all remittances" next month, after the state of New York passed the Adult Survivors Act. expressed, thereby enabling them to claim damages. For alleged rape without being barred by the statute of limitations.

A representative for Kaplan's company, Kaplan Hecker & Fink, said after the statement became public that "Donald Trump's latest statement clearly does not deserve a response".

Various legal strategies have been used by Trump's legal team to postpone the trial and prevent Carroll's lawyers from answering questions. However, Judge Kaplan said it was time to move on, especially in light of the "advanced age" of Carroll, 78, and Trump, 76, as well as potential additional witnesses.

They argued that "the defendant should not be allowed to run the clock on the plaintiff's attempt to obtain a remedy for a grave mistake."

Carroll's lawsuit claims that Trump's refusal to rape her in 2019 damaged her reputation. Donald Trump's defense team is attempting to end the trial by claiming that Republicans were performing their duties as president when they denied the allegations, describing their accuser as "my type. Not a person".

In his statement on Wednesday, Trump reiterated the remarks: "And, while I shouldn't say that, I will. I don't like this woman at all! She's unaware of what day, week, month, year, Or in the decade this alleged "event" is believed to have occurred.

She is oblivious because it never happened, and she doesn't want to engage in information that can be disproved later.
An important question is whether Trump will continue to be named as a defendant in the original lawsuit, as the US government would be a defendant in the event that Trump was acting in accordance with his obligations as a federal employee.

When Trump responded to Carroll's claims, the Second US Circuit Court of Appeals last month ruled in a split decision that he was a federal employee. But it asked a separate Washington court to rule on whether Trump's public comments occurred while he was working.

The judge, Kaplan, claimed that Trump had repeatedly tried to block evidence gathering for the trial.
"The position regarding the burden of discovery of Mr. Trump is unforgivable, given his conduct so far in this matter," he wrote.

As the court noted earlier, Mr. Trump has prosecuted the case since its launch in 2019 with delayed effect and perhaps with intent to do so.

Excluding statements from Trump and Carroll, the judge said the gathering of evidence for the trial was essentially complete.

“Mr. Trump has conducted a comprehensive investigation of the plaintiffs, but himself has provided almost nothing,” Kaplan claimed. "Filling out these statements - which have already been postponed for years - will not be a burden on Mr.

Trump excessively or cause him irreparable harm."
The judge said the statement could be helpful when Carroll's attorney files a new lawsuit next month.

According to the judge, both the defamation claim and the upcoming new trial depend on whether rape actually took place.
