USA: The estate of a US Capitol police officer who died a day after riots on January 6, 2021, on Thursday filed a wrongful death lawsuit against former President Donald Trump, alleging that he killed his supporters that day. encouraged to engage in violence.
The lawsuit was brought against Trump in US District Court in Washington on behalf of the estate of Officer Brian Sicknick, who died on January 7 at the age of 42 after suffering multiple strokes.
The violent events of January 6 "played a role in his condition," the medical examiner concluded, even though Sicknick was not hurt during the attack on the US Capitol, where lawmakers were certifying the results of the presidential election. Siknik died of natural causes.

According to Sicknick's estate, defendant Trump "intentionally incited a mob, encouraging a mob to storm the U.S. Capitol and attack those who oppose him."
The lawsuit claims that "Defendant Trump's words and actions that followed reasonably and foresaw the consequences of violence, and the injuries caused by the violence, including the injuries sustained by Officer Sicknick and his eventual death." Trump's spokesman could not be reached for comment Thursday evening.

In addition to being sued for wrongful death, Trump has been charged with assault, negligence and violating Sicknick's civil rights. The estate is requesting damages of $10 million. Two protesters from January 6 were also mentioned in the complaint.
In December, a panel of the US House of Representatives led by Democrats investigating the events of January 6 requested federal prosecutors charge Trump with sedition and obstruction.
