New Delhi [India], June 8 (NT): US President Donald Trump in his counter attack at Canada for criticizing its newly-imposed tariffs said that Canada charges the US up to 300 percent on dairy.

"Prime Minister Trudeau is being so indignant, bringing up the relationship that the U.S. and Canada had over the many years and all sorts of other things...but he doesn't bring up the fact that they charge us up to 300 percent on dairy - hurting our Farmers, killing our Agriculture!," Trump  asserted in the micro blogging  website Twitter.

Worth mention here On May 31, the US declared to impose 25 and 10 percent tariffs on steel and aluminum respectively on three of its major trading partners - Canada, Mexico and the European Union (EU).

Earlier on June 2, the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau hailed the trade tariffs as 'insulting and unacceptable' and declared that the country would slap its own tariffs on US' goods in retaliation.

Prior to this United States President Donald Trump has asked Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that didn't Canada burn down the White House in 1812.

Over a bad-tempered phone call on May 25, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau asked the United States President as to how he could give explanation for the tariffs as a national security issue, to which Trump acted in response saying, "Didn't you guys burn down the White House?" Trump raised questions referring to the War of 1812.

This statement comes after new tariffs were slapped by the Trump administration targeting steel and aluminum imports coming from Canada.
