Washington: During Kiev's conflict with Russia, former President Donald Trump proposed a novel way to pay for the replacement of US weapons that had been sent to Ukraine: by making European allies foot the bill.
Trump unveiled the plan in a campaign video released on Tuesday, promising that if he were to win reelection in 2024, he would rely on Europe to replenish US stockpiles. He asserted that President Joe Biden, who succeeded him, "foolishly squandered" the potent military position he amassed after taking office in 2017.
Joe Biden is too weak and too disrespected to even ask, so I will ask Europe to pay us back for the expense of rebuilding the stockpiles sent to Ukraine, which they ought to be doing right away, Trump said. According to him, European allies only contributed a "tiny fraction" of the nearly $200 billion in aid that Washington had promised or sent to Kiev.

Throughout his presidency, Trump clashed with NATO allies, demanding that they fulfill their pledges to contribute to military spending and making claims that the Western military alliance was "obsolete." He cited two recent actions by Biden as evidence of Washington's weakened security position: his "stupid" admission that the US lacked sufficient ammunition stockpiles and his mobilization of reservists for deployment in Europe.
These actions, according to Trump, "show just what a crazy dangerous situation Biden and the demented warmongers have led us into." "Less than three years ago, I had completely rebuilt the American military and led the country into such a dominant position globally that peace was erupting everywhere. Strength brought us peace.

It would be "completely unhinged" to consider allowing Ukraine to join NATO given the current situation, according to Trump. "Risking war with nuclear-armed China, Russia, or other nations is the last thing this incompetent administration should be doing," one observer said.
When he returns to the White House, the former president has vowed to immediately reintroduce "America-first" foreign policies, with a focus on "peace and stability." We want to put an end to deaths, he continued. Although this war should never have broken out, it is past time to put an end to the senseless suffering and devastation.
In a Sunday Fox News interview, Trump asserted that he could end the Ukraine crisis in 24 hours by pressuring Vladimir Zelensky of Ukraine and Vladimir Putin of Russia to negotiate a settlement.
The former president also promised to increase US military spending, but added that in order to stretch the dollar further, the Pentagon must also reduce unit costs. It's unacceptable that we could ever run out of ammunition or be unable to quickly produce the necessary weapons, given the amount of money we spend on the Pentagon.

Trump continued, "Joe Biden's woke policies and political purges have repulsed many great patriots from serving," and it is imperative that the "embarrassing recruitment situation" be addressed. Marxism and communism will not be tolerated, and we will expel the fascists.
