The victim, Satyasheelan, who was inebriated, stumbled and fell on a roadside garbage dump and passed away. He was a laborer and lived in the area. The incident took place on March 25 in Bengaluru’s Cox Town neighborhood. Following the incident, Pulikeshinagar police were alerted by residents in the area who initially assumed the victim was drunk and passed out on the road. While police initially suspected that the man had died after a fatal fall, post mortem reports revealed a stab injury on his chest. This led cops to probe the incident further.

Police said Satyasheelan was at the crime scene with a liquor bottle at 10.30pm. The accused trio riding on a bike stopped and tried to snatch his liquor bottle, but he held on to it tightly. Lokesh then took out a knife and stabbed him on the back. Later, the trio fled the spot with the bottle. One of the accused was wearing a white t-shirt with an ‘L’ printed on it. This was visible in the CCTV footage which the cops were looking through and using this clue, they were able to track down the culprits. The accused have been arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
